Horsetooth 10k Swim - Aug 10th

I did it again!

This past Sunday I went to Fort Collin's Horsetooth Resevior Swim and swam a 10k. You know, no big deal.

There were a total of 70 swimmers ranging from 14 to 73. They let the fastest swimmers going first and then 2 minutes later they let the fast swimmers go next. For fun I had my toenails painted to match my swimsuit! We probably swam 1/4 of a mile out of the harbor area and our kayakers find us out in the lake.

After that we just stick to the west side of the resevior and swim and swim and swim.

I started off having a bit of werid pain in my right hand and then my right elbow and then both of my shoulders were killing me and then my neck. It sucked and I wanted it to be over with. Then the lake started getting super choppy. I was being tossed around like a rubber ducky. So I just put everything else aside and just focused on my stroke and moving forward.

It was a bit disheartening because I wasn't going as fast I have in the past so the swim was taking longer then I wanted it too. The other odd thing was that I was kinda in a group of other swimmers. My kayaker and photographer Andy would pass the time chatting with other kayakers. But towards the last 3 miles I got into a grove and started pulling away from the group. I would spot other kayakers and head towards them. Then when I ran out of kayakers I would spot trees.

Then I just swam and swam and swam and swam.

Finally at the finish!

Result: my finish time was 3 hours and 45 minutes.
